MacMachine Some edited footages I shot during a New York City trip for Human Rights Watch International Film Festival and the New York Asian Film Festival in June 2005. Nearly mugged wandering around. It's a little tribute to this lovely city and people but NOT to Bush and his administration. It got this wonderful creative aura energy that hard to explain. Anyway, this video here will tell on how I felt being in the "City That Never Sleeps". Edited with the background music of U2 from the album "All that you can't leave behind, New York - 2000 ".

Dr. Sheikh, Blasted off Successfully

" Angkasawan Negara, Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al Masrie,
Blasted off Successfully "

Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor Al Masrie will be the first Muslim astronaut to be in space during Islam holiest month, Ramadhan. A story from BBC.com wrote on how he will carry out his 'ibadat: fasting & praying' rituals and will hold the first traditional Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebratory meal in space. He was successfully blasted off into space in a Soyuz TMA-11 spacecraft from Baikonur Cosmodrome, Kazakhstan at exactly 9.21pm, Malaysian time. He will spend nine days on the space station conducting medical and bio-technology tests and research on behalf of various Malaysian scientists before returning to Earth with the outgoing crew.

From Kak Marina Mahathir blog. Our former Prime Minister, Tun Dr, Mahathir Mohamad, whose visionary initiated this project, saw this historial event on TV from his room at IJN, still recuperating after his landmark second multiple coronary by-pass 4 Sept.

The Signs of a Stroke Victim, What Happened to my Mom

" blood vessel was blocked and the brain didn't get much
oxygen from blood flow which turned into brain trauma "

What Happened to my Mom

My mom is 69 years. She had a slight stumbled in the toilet during her morning shower (or might have a small stroke attack, she didn’t tell anyone except casually during the night before she went to bed at 9.30pm and felt okey). She continued her usual day at home and even cook “breaking fast” dishes for my youngest sister family (she even did her fasting during the Ramadan, after her GP said okey). She had no heart condition but on monthly medication for diabetes and high blood pressure. She was found half paralyzed on her bed later at 5am, trying to getup for morning meal to start the fasting (usually she woke up at 4am, my sister panicked and called me in KL instead for the ambulance)

She was taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital in the city. She had suffered a major stroke which swell-up her right brain… 3 days later she passed away. Had we known how to identify the early signs of stroke, perhaps mom would be with us today. Some don’t die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead (half body paralyzed, but this can be overcome with physiotherapy & good traditional massage, but dependent on age factor too).

A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within three hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke...totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within three hours, which is tough.

Read and Learn!

Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke.

Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions:

1. S - Ask the individual to SMILE.
2. T - Ask the person to TALK and SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE(Coherently) (i.e., It is sunny today)
3. R - Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS.

Another “sign” of a stroke is this: Ask the person to “stick” out their tongue. If the tongue is “crooked”; if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call 911 immediately and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher!

pirate
“ Better to be a Pirate than to join the Navy ”

Steve Jobs - Referring to the pirate flag that flew over Apple’s headquaters in 1983. I believe that quote was one of three keyphrases for a large Apple meeting/conference, and the Pirate flag was attached to the Macintosh building after that meeting. So the flag was actually a reaction to that.
