MacMachine Some edited footages I shot during a New York City trip for Human Rights Watch International Film Festival and the New York Asian Film Festival in June 2005. Nearly mugged wandering around. It's a little tribute to this lovely city and people but NOT to Bush and his administration. It got this wonderful creative aura energy that hard to explain. Anyway, this video here will tell on how I felt being in the "City That Never Sleeps". Edited with the background music of U2 from the album "All that you can't leave behind, New York - 2000 ".

this is bad but true

Bad news from Michael Backman. He wrote a bad-but-true story in The Age, Australia, today, titled: While Malaysia fiddles, its opportunities are running dry.
" Malaysia's been at it again, arguing about what proportion of the economy each of its two main races - the Malays and the Chinese - owns. It's an argument that's been running for 40 years. That wealth and race are not synonymous is important for national cohesion, but really it's time Malaysia grew up. "
Go read it!

Hard hitting but true. Do we really need to send someone to space? What technological benefits does that bring to the nation? Agriculture Ministry parliamentary secretary has told Parliament that Malaysia's first astronaut will be playing batu seremban and spinning tops and making teh tarik while in space. All that money (costing $RM95 million) could be put to better use, perhaps to research and plan for the future power needs, given oil will be depleted by 2025.

And more bad news . . .

Malaysia biotech bid hurt by researcher
" KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 13 (Reuters) - Malaysia is counting on bright, ambitious people like Tan Chye Ling for its future, to lead it away from manufacturing and into the knowledge age. But the 32-year-old scientist, a post-graduate in molecular biology, is not counting on Malaysia to look after her future.

"I felt very suppressed in Malaysia," said Tan, who moved to neighbouring Singapore, the region's pace-setter for biotech investment, after a decade of study and research in Malaysia."

Al Jazeera English set to launch today

There is lots of excitement & stress here at Al Jazeera KLCC office(Kuala Lumpur), about the launch of Al Jazeera English Channel. Visit this page to check Al Jazeera English revamped website. Al Jazeera English Channel, the 24 hour English news service that is launching on November 15th at 3 pm Doha time, today. This is one of the most advanced news production centres in the world - all systems are Hi-Definition (HD) and it is connected to three other broadcast centres across the globe via a high speed fibre network.

ASTRO here in Malaysia carries Al-Jazeera on Channel 92(8pm,local time). In addition to cable, ADSL, mobile platforms and satellite, Al Jazeera English will be available as a live stream to the one billion users of the internet worldwide here.

Apart from all the hi-tech goodness, the real claim to fame is being part of "Al Jazeera"! 10 years ago Al Jazeera was launched in Doha, Qatar and it not only changed the face of the media in region, but also the geo-political situation. Suddently people from the Arab world were being represented in their own voices. While Qatar may be rich in oil and natural gas, it is Al Jazeera which really put it on the world stage. Now with the expansion into English, Qatar is bound for another decade of being the home to "fearless journalism".

Some people think Al Jazeera as a media propaganda for the Al Qaeda. And the muslims say it is monopolize by zionis thinker. Please read this book by Hugh Miles, Al Jazeera to know the true story. Watch this channel - it is going to rock the world!

With the hours rapidly slipping away, everyone inside AJI is ready to go, but we're excited. Producers are getting our shows together and trying to stabilize the system. Continuing the trend of being a market leader and doing things a bit different than the rest, the Al Jazeera International Commission has created an "extranet commissioning system which will allow and encourage journalists and producers worldwide to pitch stories and receive rapid decisions." AJI will be the first global High Definition TV network with four broadcast centers around the world (Doha, Kuala Lumpur, Washington and London) that will provide blocks of programming to fill the 24-hour news cycle. Lots of space and time for freelancers to fill. So this is where I stand.

please understand that 'Terrorism has no religion'

'All religions, human codes and ethics, and even our most primitive intuition regard terrorism to be villainous. True Islam also rejects and condemns terrorism. 'Terrorism has no religion' is our on-going communication campaign against extremist ideology that breeds terrorism, and we use Quranic Verses in their true Islamic meaning; free of the distortion committed by the misguided malicious terrorists." (noterror.info)

Their TV Ads have been playing around in the Middle East for the past couple of days. View there latest campaign here.

Question (This On Air TV Ad, that I like)
Terrorists use various means to justify their violence, even though God’s written word does not permit these actions. One glance at the victims of terrorist attacks is living proof that terrorists are nothing but criminals and murderers, and are far from being righteous.

pirate
“ Better to be a Pirate than to join the Navy ”

Steve Jobs - Referring to the pirate flag that flew over Apple’s headquaters in 1983. I believe that quote was one of three keyphrases for a large Apple meeting/conference, and the Pirate flag was attached to the Macintosh building after that meeting. So the flag was actually a reaction to that.
