Please Stop the Israeli Bloodshed Invasion of Gaza!

" War on Gaza, Al Jazeera English "

" Gaza Bloodshed, with over 900 Palestinians killed and the death
toll mounting daily as the Gaza offensive escalates- 11 Jan 2009 "

With over 900 Palestinians killed and the death toll mounting daily as the Gaza offensive escalates, we're urgently demanding action to end the violence and protect civilians.

Calling for robust international action to achieve an immediate ceasefire in Gaza and take further crucial steps toward a fair and lasting peace in the Middle East

Petition to the UN Security Council, the European Union, the Arab League and the USA: AVAAZ.ORG

Live update: AlJazeera English News
Live update: AlJazeera Magazine
Live update: www.muslims.net

We urge you to act immediately to ensure a comprehensive ceasefire in the Gaza Strip, to protect civilians on all sides, and to address the growing humanitarian crisis. Only through robust international action and oversight can the bloodshed be stopped, the Gaza crossings safely re-opened and real progress made toward a wider peace in 2009.

Here is a link to the full column by Uri Avnery.

Here is Tony Karon (Rootless Cosmopolitan) arguing that Israel has in fact lost this war.

Here is Israeli historian Avi Shlaim's analysis of the origins of the conflict, from the Guardian.

Here is a long post by Jim Sleeper from TPMCafe, offering a sympathetic defense of Israel's existence, questioning the moral posturing of some of its critics, yet concluding that there is urgent need for some "tough love" from its friends. TPMCafe also has some nice posts from Todd Gitlin, Sam Bahour, and MJ Rosenberg.

And finally, here is a link to a Washington Post column by historian/journalist Tom Segev.

In spite of UN Resolution 1860; Israel continues offensive ...
1. The Security Council stresses the urgency of and calls for an immediate, durable and fully respected ceasefire, leading to the full withdrawal of Israeli forces from Gaza.

2. The Security Council calls for the unimpeded provision and distribution throughout Gaza of humanitarian assistance, including of food, fuel and medical treatment.

3. The Security Council welcomes the initiatives aimed at creating and opening humanitarian corridors and other mechanisms for the sustained delivery of humanitarian aid.

4. The Security Council calls on member states to support international efforts to alleviate the humanitarian and economic situation in Gaza, including through urgently needed additional contributions to UNWRA and through the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee.

5. The Security Council condemns all violence and hostilities directed against civilians and all acts of terrorist.

6. The Security Council calls upon member states to intensify efforts to provide arrangements and guarantees in Gaza in order to sustain a durable ceasefire and calm, including to prevent illicit trafficking in arms and ammunition and to ensure the sustained reopening of crossing points on the basis of the 2005 Agreement on Movement and Access between the Palestinian Authority; and in this regard, welcomes the Egyptian initative, and other regional and international efforts that are underway.

7. The Security Council encourages tangible steps towards intra-Palestinian reconciliation including in support of mediation efforts of Egypt and the League of Arab States as expressed in the 26 November 2008 resolution, and consistent with Security Council Resolution 1850 (2008) and other relevant resolutions.

8. The Security Council calls for renewed and urgent efforts by the parties and the international community to achieve a comprehensive peace based on the vision of a region where two democratic states, Israel and Palestine, live side by side in peace with secure and recognized borders, as envisaged in Security Council Resolution 1850 (2008), and recalls also the important of the Arab Peace Initiative.

9. The Security Council welcomes the Quartet's consideration, in consultation with the parties, of an international meeting in Moscow in 2009.

power to The Conference of Rulers (Majlis Raja-Raja)

rulers wars, originally uploaded by hatzjourney.

Malaysiakini quotes a report from Wednesday's edition of The Straits Times that the Conference of Rulers (Majlis Raja-Raja) has recently made a rare ruling by rejecting the PM's nominated candidate to fill the vacant post of Chief Judge of Malaya (CJM), the third highest-ranking official in the judiciary.

Under the Malaysian constitution, the rulers are to be consulted on certain key government appointments such as judges or members of the Election Commission. In the case of judicial appointments, the Prime Minister makes the recommendations after discussion with the Chief Justice.

Apparently this might be in response to concern from the legal fraternity that relatively junior judges have been appointed over the heads of more senior judges like Gopal Sri Ram. The Straits Times report suggested that the Prime Minister may have had an audience with HRH Sultan Azlan Shah, who was a former Lord President (now known as Chief Justice), regarding this matter.

Finally, power to the Sultan? Watch this saga, as this battle unfold between Malaysian Royalty Ruler and Malaysia's ruling party. Here an interesting read from Imran Imtiaz Shah Yacob for Asia Sentinel, posted by: Raja Petra at malaysia-today.net.

This is like the 'Star Wars' saga, and Raja Petra appear to be the "jedi knight", battling against the evil UMNO Empire with their "stormtroopers" aka "cybertroopers from Lisbo Planet". He is the 'Hans Solo' implementing strategy in the battle between UMNO and the Rulers. Read his laser post on this issue. It is about time the Yang di-Pertuan Agong (King of Malaysia) act on his responsibility for safeguarding the rights and privileges of all citizens of Malaysia.

"mother of all genocide" in western democracy

" The Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) has been
given the green light by the Bush administration to
carry out an “information war” against several states
in the Middle East, including Iran, Lebanon ... "

There is a genocide going on today under the disguise of 'Democracy'. It has gone on for 515 years, since Columbus entered the Mexican shore in the so called "new world". It is the western imperialistic and colonial system, who since have ruled, robbed and slaughtered the rest of the world in quest for resources that belonged to the poor. This is mother of all genocide that makes the other smaller genocides look like a fight in the boys scout(I am a scouty..yay).

Greed is driving it. First came Latin-America, later Asia and Africa.

Because of oil, todays war and killing brought it to the rest of Middle East.Of course the west uses all the euphemisms (PR machinery) available to disguise what has been going on, and still goes on. Occupation is called "liberation","bringing democracy", "civilizing", "liberal intervention". The resistance to the illegal occupations have up through the years been called "extremists","terrorists" and the like. So you get a new euphemism (PR machinery) to use. Rewrite the situation and start calling invasions and occupations "war on terror" The poor western public lives their lives under these euphemisms (PR machinery).

Altantuya...you're dabomb

" bang, bang than...Altantuya, we are sorry "

Karpal's application for judge to withdraw from case was rejected
The High Court which resumed the Altantuya Shaariibuu murder trial here rejected the application by Karpal Singh, who is acting as counsel for the family of the Mongolian woman, for the trial judge to withdraw from handling the case.Justice Datuk Mohd Zaki Md Yassin made the decision when the hearing resumed today after being postponed on June 4. Earlier, Karpal had made an oral application for the judge to withdraw, citing family ties between Mohd Zaki and one of the defence counsels as grounds for the aplication.

Deputy Public Prosecutor Tun Abdul Majid Tun Hamzah later objected the grounds raised by Karpal as being too remote.Political analyst Abdul Razak Abdullah Baginda, 46, is accused of abetting two policemen in killing the woman in October last year.Abdul Razak is charged with abetting Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri, 30, and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar, 35, from the Special Action Force (UTK) to commit the murder.

Abdul Razak's wife, Mazlinda Makhzan, and daughter Roweena, together with his parents and mother-in-law arrived at the court as early as 7.30 am. Roweena, 20, attracted the crowd's attention for wearing a black jacket and t-shirt with the words "Roweena Razak Baginda" printed in front while on her back were the words "And I'm Proud Of It".

Summary of Altantuya Case:

The Mongolian Altantuya Shaaribuu body was blown to bits in one of the most brutal murders in Malaysia. The 28-year-old woman is the eldest daughter of Dr Shaaribuu Setev. She was an interpreter and translator. She has two sons aged 10 and 5.

The accused were Chief Inspector Azilah Hadri and Corporal Sirul Azhar Umar joinly charge for murdering Altantuya between 10pm on 19 Oct and 1am on 20 Oct 2006 at lots 12843 & 16735 in Mukim Bukit Raja, Shah Alam.

Abdul Razak Baginda, a well-known political analyst heading the Malaysian Strategic Research Centre, a local think-tank. He was also charge of abetting the two policemen between 9.54am on 18 Oct and 9.45pm on 19 Oct 2006 in Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur.

how to hide from malaysian internet-police task force

" the recent spat in our Malaysia blog sphere,
click here for real picture of uncle monsterball "

A task force will be formed to study the need to regulate Internet sites with pornographic and seditious content...
The websites to be monitored are those which contain pornographic material and those, including blogs, which carry seditious material.

"These include blogs which post inflammatory content against other races or religions and not just blogs on politics or those which criticise the government," a source said.

for further reading from NST story here or from Rocky's Bru and Nuraina A Samad's 3540 Jalan Sudin.

But you can't really control the internet, for the tech savvy in computer security...there's always a great way to stay Ultimate-Anonymity.

For anonymity, I would recommend:(please search & research my suggestion list on your own and don't email me on how to implement it, USE THIS INFORMATION AT YOUR OWN RISK! (See Disclaimer)

1. Spoofmac or something to change your network card MAC address (this is important on public networks)

2. Use a public network that lots of other people use (like a large university library. All those kids are probably downloading music anyways.)

3. Have a firewall up and run little snitch (Use netbarrier for a firewall--there's a pretty good configuration file for it floating around somewhere)

4. Use TOR for web browsing and other applications which support it (azureus and limewire maybe). TOR on firefox is amazingly easy to set up. There is absolutely no reason not to use it

5. Use MUTE for P2P (it is probably more anonymous than limewire through TOR)

6. Don't use P2P at all if you are paranoid... wired or KDX through TOR on a public network is probably about as safe as you can get.

7. And finally (and this is pretty basic web advice) DON'T GIVE OUT PERSONAL INFORMATION! Delete cookies, etc. Don't use you're real name. Don't check your email while you 'stayed anon'. Don't be talking on AIM. Your personal activities(email, etc.)should occur separately in space and time from your 'stayed anon' activities. When you check your email you should be
a) in a different place
b) at a different time
c) on a different network
d) with a different ip address and
e) with a different MAC address. That way, the network admin won't be able to associate the person who 'stayed anon' with the person who was checking their personal email account.

Things which I do not recommend:

1. JAP (its security is compromised)

2. netshade (iI have heard it is not secure. and its slow. However, if you set it to only use proxies outside of your country, the local authorities can't force them to say what you are doing)

3. IP block lists like peer vangaurd (Authorities can use TOR just as easily as you can, and they probably do. IP block lists block a ton of legit sites, and give you a false sense of security.)

4. Acting suspicious (don't be the only person in the library, at night, after hours, 'stayed anon' in full view of the door. Find large groups of people and blend in with the crowd.)

5. not having fun. (because that's what its all about, right?)

If you are running limewire or bittorrent through TOR on a public network using a fake MAC address, you are probably pretty safe. P2P at home is probably a pretty bad idea though.

Disclaimer:
Finally, know the limitations of the security you use. Know how it works, and how it can be compromised. (For example, how could police find out who you are, even if you were using something like TOR or MUTE?) If you are doing anything ILLEGAL, in time..the security expert and the police will know your true identity, so BEWARE!!!

send a message to environment ministers in G8 summit 2007, Germany to act on global warming and climate change issues

" Climate change is the greatest threat facing our world today "

On Thursday March 15th, the environment ministers from the G8, the world's biggest contributors to climate change, will be meeting in Germany. The outcome of this meeting will play a critical role in determining the world's response to global warming-and the fate of the planet. The G8 is a summit of world leaders from the "Group of 8" largest economies. Together, these countries account for 50% of global greenhouse gas emissions-the gasses that cause climate change. The full G8 summit is coming in June, but the agenda and outcome of this type of high-profile event is usually set far in advance--at meetings like this one of the Environment Ministers.

AVAAZ.ORG has been invited to attend this meeting to present our climate change petition. Help seize this opportunity to shape the G8's agenda by signing the petition here. It's a rare opportunity to have a global impact. Add your voice to the petition now! more than 80,000 people from 131 countries have already demanded action. Our goal is to reach 100,000. Please sign the petition, post this link on your blog and spread the word around--we only have a few days to make this statement count.

If we add our voices together, now, 2007 can become the year we took the first step to save the world.

Watch the DVD of "An Inconvenient Truth" directed by Davis Guggenheim. He eloquently weaves the science of global warming with Mr. Gore's personal history and lifelong commitment to reversing the effects of global climate change. A longtime advocate for the environment, Gore presents a wide array of facts and information in a thoughtful and compelling way. Al Gore strips his presentations of politics, laying out the facts for the audience to draw their own conclusions in a charming, funny and engaging style, and by the end has everyone on the edge of their seats, gripped by his haunting message. An Inconvenient Truth is not a story of despair but rather a rallying cry to protect the one earth we all share. "...It is now clear that we face a deepening global climate crisis that requires us to act boldly, quickly, and wisely," said Gore. get "An Inconvenient Truth" here

Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed on Bush, Blair, Howard in "Expose War Crimes: Criminalise War"

" war criminal, killer of children, liar "

" Criminalising War: Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed on YouTube "

This event was attended by more than 3,000 participants and foreign delegates. It was also attended by local dignitaries including several of Malaysia's top judges. Despite the importance of event and the evidence presented on US war crimes, Western media coverage wasn't that much on this issue.

Our outspoken Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed, won a standing ovation after opening the event with a call for Bush, Blair, Howard to be tried by an unofficial tribunal for war crimes in Iraq."We should not hang Blair if the tribunal finds him guilty, but he should always carry the label 'War Criminal, Killer of Children, Liar'," said Tun in an hour-long speech illustrated by pictures of wounded children, deformed babies and tortured men. "And so should Bush and the pocket Bush of the Bushland of Australia," he said, referring to Prime Minister John Howard, a 'buddy' ally in the US-led war on terror.

Try watching this DVD Truth, Lies and Intelligence, to understand more about Bush, Blair, Howard lies. Done by veteran journalist, broadcaster and filmmaker Carmel Travers. His documentary examines the response of the intelligence community to the war in Iraq.

Tun Dr. Mahathir Mohamed has been leading this campaign to highlight what he calls the human rights abuses and hypocrisy of US-led forces fighting for democracy in the Middle East which I wholeheartly support. Please visit the War Crimes Exhibit (admission is free), which began this Monday and will be held until Sunday at PUTRA WORLD TRADE CENTRE. The exhibit contains documentary evidence of US sponsored war crimes.

guerilla LED ad campaign lead to terrorism scare in boston

"ATHF is the bomb"

There was a terrorism scare in Boston last wednesday, strange devices were found all over the city. Police close down most of the area. The bomb squad came, detonated and removed all of it. Turns out the devices are part of a guerrilla marketing campaign for [Cartoon Network which is owned by Time Warner] "Aqua Teen Hunger Force". The devices are little LED Moominites. I thought it was a cool & cheap campaign but the authorities and US media turn it into a complete 'moronic' situation. Read more from Metroblogging Boston, here's the first and last posts on this topic.

Boston's freaked out police have arrested the guy who stuck those things around town... They're going to come up with all kinds of charges to justify the official panic attack and predictable meltdown suffered by the police and city administration. Yeah... I think they should actually pass a law that bans LEDs. LEDs are evil, they are weapons of mass destruction. No more LEDs, return to using light bulbs again. No wait, I think you can also make bombs from lightbulbs. Ban lightbulbs. Use candles! Ahh, no way, candles are dangerous too! Fire!! Fire!!! And you can stick a candle up someone's arse eye, too. People might get hurt! Terrorists are just waiting to hijack a plane using candles, and then blow everything up! this is stupid paranoia!!!. Get from Raplica this cool T-shirts with a Mooninite and the slogan "ATHF is the bomb" to make fun of the foolish authorities who practically shut down Boston because of all this. I ordered mine, go and get one yourself.

'going fishing' in Kuala Lumpur civil High Court?

"original photo by Paul Choo, LensaPress Photo. grab from screenshots"

Rocky’s co-defence lawyer Malik Imtiaz Sarwar was quited by the reporter from Agencie France Presse (AFP):
“What Rocky is contending is that with the claim the way it is, it is impossible to know how to adequately defend himself,” his lawyer Malik Imtiaz Sarwar told reporters at the Kuala Lumpur civil High Court.

“What we are arguing is that the claim must specifically set out which phrase relates to which meaning so that we can know how to defend it,” he said.

pirate
“ Better to be a Pirate than to join the Navy ”

Steve Jobs - Referring to the pirate flag that flew over Apple’s headquaters in 1983. I believe that quote was one of three keyphrases for a large Apple meeting/conference, and the Pirate flag was attached to the Macintosh building after that meeting. So the flag was actually a reaction to that.
