MacMachine Some edited footages I shot during a New York City trip for Human Rights Watch International Film Festival and the New York Asian Film Festival in June 2005. Nearly mugged wandering around. It's a little tribute to this lovely city and people but NOT to Bush and his administration. It got this wonderful creative aura energy that hard to explain. Anyway, this video here will tell on how I felt being in the "City That Never Sleeps". Edited with the background music of U2 from the album "All that you can't leave behind, New York - 2000 ".

Home at last. I had a small get together dinner cum clubbing at Bangsar with my team earlier. Cause. I am a year older now. Yeeap! . . . 'few hours ago was my birthday'. Thanks to the guys for dinner and this weekend, dinner party at my "Plazes" Saturday 20/08/2005-6pm, come earlier [bYOB, if you want alcohol but can only be drink in the garden (No Alcohol in the house) to Daren, my cute neighbor will be joining us and she cooking too ;)] Please refer to 'Plazes' for my location, else 'buzz' me.

I was reading latest MITs issue and found out this cool service by "Plazes". Now they have a feature that let's you create a Where is? page with Google Maps integration. For example:

  • Where is Hatz?

  • Using this, it is an admission of all the "hotspots location" that I've been to. But you can be selective about when revealing spatial presence, don't wanna invite stalker do you.

the smog getting bad to worse

The smog condition surrounding Jalan Raja Laut here is so bad, blame it on Indonesia. Numerous fires are raging in Kalimantan and Sumatra currently. We in Malaysia & Singapore have been suffering this annual affair for almost 10 years and God knows what the impact on our long term health will be. This is health hazard, I had it worse here than what I experience back in Singapore 3 years ago. The Indonesian authorities must do something about this disaster.

The National Security Division, Prime Minister’s Department, Putrajaya have issued a "State Of Emergency" until the API numbers drop to a safe level.

The Department of Environment has just released the Air Pollutant Index for the country. Selangor recorded 305 in Gombak, Port Kelang (486), Petaling Jaya (326), Kajang (204), Shah Alam (430), and Kuala Selangor (527). In Kuala Lumpur, the reading is 295, and Putrajaya (354). For detailed readings, visit the DOE website

Me, . . . staying indoors all this week, dreading to go outside and choke to death

    make money from your camera–phone

This self-proclaimed media agency "Scoopt" acts as an online middleman, connecting cellphone-camera–equipped people with news outlets hungry for exclusive, eyewitness pictures.

    Snap... Send... Sell... Money!

The cellphone photographer must agree to give "Scoopt" a three-month exclusive window to market it. During that period, the user cannot publish the photo anywhere—not even a personal blog. After the 90-day window expires, "Scoopt" will continue to peddle the picture, but the licensing is returned to the photographer. Photos could fetch anywhere from a few pounds to £10,000 (a good deal!) it will be split 50-50. "Scoopt" will eventually expand to cellphone video, too. So what you waiting for, go register at "Scoopt" and show me the money, maybe you can become an award winning journalist

journalist & fellow blogger killed in Iraq

A freelance reporter and our blogger comrade Steven Vincent was murdered Tuesday night in Basra, Iraq. Reports that he wrote on ties which link Iraqi police with ediotic extremists, likely led to his killing. National Review article, MSNBC story. This piece he wrote for Sunday's New York Times -- it is believed that this story inspired his murder. Sad news and I had been reading his blog for a while back.

In his 2004 book, he spoke of the time that Iraqi colleagues in Basra told him that "Iraqi journalists are not free. If we go too deep into some stories, we will anger certain people — and they will kill us." In this "shadow world of perpetual revenge killings", he duly noted, "there are dangerous forces throughout Iraq who do not want the media to investigate their activities. Especially in Basra, where the placid British occupation barely suppresses the violence and intrigue. Here, Islamic hit-squads murder liquor store owners and drunks they find on the street." This latest news, made me think twice to be in Iraq at this time. This death will be added to the 64 journalists and media assistants killed since the start of fighting in Iraq from March 2003, two are still missing. And I mat one briefly when I was in Karamah border, Jordan.

    Bless them all!

    pirate
“ Better to be a Pirate than to join the Navy ”

Steve Jobs - Referring to the pirate flag that flew over Apple’s headquaters in 1983. I believe that quote was one of three keyphrases for a large Apple meeting/conference, and the Pirate flag was attached to the Macintosh building after that meeting. So the flag was actually a reaction to that.
