MacMachine Some edited footages I shot during a New York City trip for Human Rights Watch International Film Festival and the New York Asian Film Festival in June 2005. Nearly mugged wandering around. It's a little tribute to this lovely city and people but NOT to Bush and his administration. It got this wonderful creative aura energy that hard to explain. Anyway, this video here will tell on how I felt being in the "City That Never Sleeps". Edited with the background music of U2 from the album "All that you can't leave behind, New York - 2000 ".

support and vote Iraqi voices here at Avaaz

" sign the petition calling for negotiations and a withdrawal of US troops here at AVAAZ. "

The nightmare in Iraq worsens daily. It's make-or-break time -- but next Thursday in Egypt, we could start to turn the tide. Because on May 3rd – for the first time ever - top US and Iraqi leaders will meet with Iran and Syria plus international powers. They can agree on negotiations to end the war -- or escalate their bloody conflict.

Iraq: It Ends on May 3rd Avaaz is launching a major advertising and text-message campaign inside Iraq this week to bring Iraqi voices to this decisive meeting. As citizens around the world, let's join our voices with theirs to end this war -- sign the petition calling for negotiations and a withdrawal of US troops here:

" Walkski has put up this poll here, i voted for >>All bloggers, but office bearers must drop their anonymity. please go there and click your vote. for more digital card design at postvoice "

[…]Your say, please. Earlier this month, in the face of lawsuits and a hostile reception from some quarters in the government, we set up the The All-Blogs, or The National Alliance of Bloggers, with two objectives: to protect bloggers and to promote blogging[…]

google iceberg logo with hidden message

" Google Iceberg, so much happening beneath the surface... "

Earth Day Google logo is a great concept but poorly executed. Feathering is sloppy. You can even see the bottom right corner slightly... but why iceberg?

Iceberg are magnificent ice mountains, frozen floating islands bobbing around the most northern and southern oceans. Aside from the fact they are frozen, the coolest thing about an iceberg is that only about 1/10th of the mass of the berg is visible above the water. Knowing the other 9/10th of the mass exists below the surface adds oomph to the awe. Google is like an iceberg. There is so much happening beneath the surface that even the most well informed observers can find themselves confounded and confused when contemplating the full Google's spectrum of services. Apparently, a similar sensation is felt around the Googleplex where an initiative to refocus on the core mission, "… to organize the world's information and make it universally accessible and useful," is said to be underway.

I'm pretty sure there is a hidden message.

Love Apple 100 million iPods!

" in love with my iPod "

Apple today announced that the 100 millionth iPod has been sold, making the iPod the fastest selling music player in history. Along with iTunes and the iTunes online music store, the iPod has transformed how tens of millions of music lovers acquire, manage and listen to their music. For this occasion I would like to list a few things I love about my iPod. Feel free to add to this list:

1. Run my favorite Linux apps in iPod. Not sure how many existing applications run on Linux for the iPod, but I'm sure efforts are underway to port many useful apps.

2. Get religious...and take the Book of God anywhere with BiblePlayer, listen to the Qur'an on your walk to the office, or discover the wisdom of the Torah on the train.

3. Make my own pirate radio station by exposing the antenna on my iTrip FM transmitter. Broadcast my iPod's music library to any radio a short distance away. Useful for silencing loud radios or just messing with people.

James Nachtway pictures that can change the world

" West Bank, 2002 by James Nachtway - Mourning the dead in Jenin refugee camp. "

James Nachtway, one of the most renowned war photographers of the late 20th/ early 21st century, just received the 2007 TED Prize. His pictures - which range from the Vietnam War, to the Rwanda genocide, to the Middle East conflict - are not only beautiful in composition, but also captures, in an unadulterated fashion, human sufferings during times of conflict. Most importantly, Natchway's powerful still images gives a voice to the world's voiceless and forces viewers to reexamine the world that we live in.

Nachway has demonstrated himself to be one of the world's foremost influencer? someone whose life task, goal and aspiration can and should inspire all of us.

pirate
“ Better to be a Pirate than to join the Navy ”

Steve Jobs - Referring to the pirate flag that flew over Apple’s headquaters in 1983. I believe that quote was one of three keyphrases for a large Apple meeting/conference, and the Pirate flag was attached to the Macintosh building after that meeting. So the flag was actually a reaction to that.
